The SOL Medium is a wet location rated outdoor wall light, so it can go on an exposed wall and not just under a covered porch. One E26 socket takes any A or ST lamp up to 60W, and it's dimmable on a standard 120V circuit.

Do outdoor lights need to be wet rated?
Only if water can reach them directly. A damp rating covers a sheltered spot such as a deep porch ceiling or a soffit. Wet means the fixture handles direct rain, snow and sprinkler spray, so it's what you need on an open wall, a garage side, or any elevation without an overhang. The SOL Medium is listed cETLus for wet locations, as is every size in the Sol collection. The c is the part that matters in Canada: it confirms the fixture was assessed to Canadian standards, not just US ones, which is what inspectors and public-sector buyers check for.
What is a good waterproof rating for outdoor lights?
For a hardwired fixture in Canada, read the location rating, not the IP number. IP ratings come from an enclosure test, and plenty of imported wall lights advertise IP65 with no Canadian safety listing behind it. A wet location listing covers the whole fixture as installed, wiring included. The SOL Medium is listed wet. It carries no IP number and doesn't need one to pass inspection.
Pick the lamp to suit the job
The socket ships empty, which is the point. Fit a clear ST filament lamp where the fixture is a design feature, or an A19 where output matters more than looks. It's dimmable, so a warm filament lamp can be trimmed on an existing dimmer. An LED A19 draws roughly 8W to 9W against the 60W the socket is rated to accept, so treat 60W as the ceiling, not the load.
What the install takes
Vertical mount, down-facing, onto a junction box that isn't supplied. The manual is specific about the step people skip: caulk the back plate against the wall so water can't get in behind it. Sealing tape isn't in the box either. Rated -20C to 60C, so it holds through a Canadian winter.
