The CM-201F-5W is a single emergency light remote head. It runs off a battery unit's DC output, not line voltage, and its 6V-24VDC input covers every remote-capable unit Votatec builds, from the 6V 36W up to the 24V 144W. One head SKU fits the whole range.

What is a remote head emergency light?
It's a light head with no battery and no driver of its own. A remote head wires back to a central emergency battery unit and draws DC power from it only when the mains drop. That's why it publishes no run time and no recharge time. The unit holds the charge, the head just puts light on the floor. If you need a 120V remote head, this isn't it: this one is low voltage DC only.
What are emergency lights with remote capability?
They're battery units with spare DC capacity on the output, sized to feed heads mounted away from the unit. Votatec's remote-capable range covers 6V (36W), 12V (72W, 140W, 275W) and 24V (144W). Match the head to the unit's output voltage, then divide that unit's published remote capacity by 5W for your head count. One note from the rating table: this head pulls 0.95A at 6V but 0.22A at 24V. Voltage drop on long runs bites hardest on the 6V unit.
What does Ontario's code require?
At least 30 minutes of emergency lighting, averaging 10 lx at floor or tread level, never below 1 lx. Head count and spacing follow from that, not from a fixture schedule. The 30 degree beam is tight, putting more light directly under each head and less between them. Aim closes the gaps. Loosen the canopy nut to rotate the head, then tilt it to overlap its neighbour's coverage.
Where can you install it?
Indoors. The spec sheet rates it for damp locations and the manual limits it to indoor use, so keep it off exposed exterior walls. Rated range is 0°C to 30°C. The canopy mounts straight onto a standard junction box, wall or ceiling, and the head projects about 90mm off the surface. Watch polarity: red is positive, black negative. Don't overtighten the canopy nut, since that breaks the head's feet.
