The Rio Post Top is a wet-rated outdoor post light that mounts to a pier or post cap, not to a wall. Tempered glass in a steel frame, one E26 socket rated to 60W, on 120V.
It stands 23.13in tall on a square 5.97in base and weighs 5.95 lbs.
Certified by Intertek to cETLus for wet locations and rated from -30°C to 50°C, so it works through a Canadian winter. Three year warranty. Bulb sold separately.
How tall should outdoor post lights be?
Measure the post, then add the fixture. The Rio Post Top adds 23.13in above whatever your post or pier finishes at, so a 6ft post puts the top of the lantern near 8ft. Decide the finished height first and cut the post to suit.
The base matters as much as the height. This fixture is square in plan, 5.97in by 5.97in, and it needs a flat cap of at least that size to sit on and bolt through. Check the cap before you order the post.
Is this a post light or a wall lantern?
It's a post light. A post top sits on top of a post or pier and bolts down through a flat cap. A wall lantern bolts to a junction box on a vertical surface, with a back plate you caulk against the wall. Different hardware, and they don't swap.
The rest of the Rio collection is wall mounted. If you're lighting a wall or an entry rather than a driveway pillar, the Small, Medium and Large Rio lanterns cover that, and one of them ships with a PIR dusk-to-dawn sensor.
Built for a Canadian winter
The wet-location listing is the spec that matters outdoors. This fixture is cETLus-Listed by Intertek for wet locations, which means it's rated for direct exposure to rain and snow, not just a covered porch. Its operating range runs -30°C to 50°C (-22°F to 122°F).
Steel frame, tempered glass panels. Nothing here is plastic.
Which bulb fits?
One medium E26 socket, 60W maximum, mounted vertically. Take an A-shape or ST filament lamp. The bulb isn't included, so add it to the order.
Dimming is set by the lamp you fit, not by the fixture. If the job needs dimming, specify a dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer.
The box ships with the fixture, mounting unit, rubber rings, ball nuts, mounting screws and wire nuts.
