The RIO Medium is a wet-location outdoor wall light in steel and tempered glass, sized at 17.74 inches for entries, walkways and paired door surrounds.
One E26 socket takes a 60W maximum lamp. It projects 7.82 inches from the wall, runs on 120V at 50-60Hz, and weighs 5.51 lbs.
Housing is matt black steel with clear tempered glass. cETLus listed for wet locations, 3 year warranty. Bulb sold separately.
What size outdoor wall light do you need?
Measure the door first. A common design convention sizes a single entry fixture at about one-third of the door height, and a matched pair at about one-quarter. On an 80 inch door that's roughly 27 inches for one, 20 inches each for a pair. The RIO Medium is 17.74 inches tall and 5.91 inches wide, just under the pair figure, so it works flanking a door, lining a walkway, or filling a tighter entry where a full-size lantern crowds the opening. The Small runs 13.74 inches. The Large steps to three E12 candles at 21.25 inches.
Is the RIO Medium rated for wet locations?
Yes. It's cETLus listed with a Wet location rating, so it can take direct rain and snow rather than needing a covered soffit. That rating depends on how it's sealed. The manual carries a notice to caulk between the back plate and the wall surface to keep water from entering, and sealing tape isn't in the box. Miss that step and you've mounted a wet-rated fixture on a wall that leaks behind it.
Does 60W mean it draws 60 watts?
No. 60W is the largest lamp the socket accepts, not what the fixture consumes. Fit an LED A19 and real draw lands near 8 to 9 watts. The socket takes A shape or ST filament lamps, and it's dimmable when a compatible lamp meets a compatible dimmer. Bulbs aren't included, so you set colour temperature per site.
What's needed to install it?
A junction box, and it isn't supplied. Votatec ships the fixture, mounting unit, rubber rings, ball nuts, mounting screws and wire nuts. You add the box, sealing tape and hand tools. Mount the plate to the box, land the ground on the preinstalled green ground screw, then secure the fixture with the rubber rings and screws. Vertical mounting only, facing down. Operating range is -30°C to 50°C.
